Prior to going solo, I was employed by World Leisure Holidays in South Africa – a wholly owned company of Sun Resorts Limited, for the 8 years. The company is the exclusive sales and marketing arm in Southern Africa for the groups 5 resorts in Mauritius and 1 hotel in the Maldives (also incorporating the Kernzer International and One & Only luxury brand of resorts). During this time, I successfully implemented and managed the Zanzibar portfolio.
After 8 extremely successful years at World Leisure Holidays with over 23 years of travel industry experience, I decided to embark on a new personal business challenge and left the employ of the group. My decision to move, was based on a need for growth and personal success.
In 2013, I began working with LUX* Resorts & Hotels – a Mauritian based company listed on the Mauritius stock exchange. Taking on the role as head of market and ensuring success in increasing revenue, turnover and brand marketing management to both the consumer and the travel industry at large. Managing a South African team of 6 highly motivated individuals, who ensure our continued success.
The LUX* portfolio includes: Mauritius; Reunion, Maldives, China with the UAE and Turkey opening in 2017 and extensive future expansion plans.
In addition to this, together with my team, we also manage two properties in Zanzibar as part of The Emerald Collection, having successfully launched Hideaway of Nungwi in 2013.
Our hands on experience, destination knowledge and relationships with suppliers (key tour operators, travel agencies, airlines, tourism boards, design houses, media, copy writing etc.), are the key drivers in our ability to create product differentiation. Branding is not only about getting your target market to choose you over the competition, but it is about getting your prospects to see you as the only one that provides a solution to their problem and in the case of travel, by being the only choice in making that dream vacation a reality.
