Garnet Basson is the chief operating officer of The Capital Hotels and Apartments, a South African group of apartment hotel properties set on disrupting the market with its alternative accommodation model. He joined the company as a general manager in 2014 and was quickly promoted to Operations Director a year later. In 2016 he was promoted to his current position and is instrumental in The Capital’s aggressive growth.

Garnet is responsible for the group’s strategy across all the properties, new business development, and other special projects. He oversees operations and sales and provides leadership to more than 1,000 employees.

Garnet joined The Capital Hotels and Apartments from his role as general manager at the Intercontinental Hotel Group in Sandton, and has also worked at the Three Cities Hotel Management
Group, the Grande Roche Hotel Paarl, and Arabella South Africa Holdings (Pty) Ltd.
