Jacques holds an MComm in Economics and a BComm (Honours) in Financial Economics, both from Stellenbosch University. After completing additional Business Consulting courses at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (in the Netherlands), he returned to South Africa and joined a research department in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry. In 2013, Jacques moved to NKC, where he is now the senior economist responsible for the company’s coverage of the Southern and East Africa regions, while he remains the forecaster and country analyst on Kenya and Rwanda. His work has included presenting his findings in-country to audiences in South Africa, Mauritius and Tanzania.
