Jerry Mabena is the CEO of Thebe Services. His extensive and highly successful business background is a testament to not only his strategic thinking, but also his passion for developing talented individuals and working as a team player. Through his integrated approach to business, Jerry has achieved success in various senior executive positions at institutions including Unilever, J Walther Thomson, Ucingo Marketing, as well as being appointed as CEO at the following institutions: Kagiso Exhibitions and Events (2004 – 2007), Kagiso Property Holding (2007 – 2010), Thebe Property Management (2011 – 2012), and CEO at Thebe Services (present).
In his current capacity, Jerry looks after Thebe Investment Corporation’s stake in the following subsidiaries and companies: Kaya FM; Thebe Tourism Group (including Club Travel; Cape Point Concession; Tour D’Afrique); Combined Motor Holdings (including First Car Rental); Thebe Stockbroking; Thebe Health; Thebe Property Asset management; Thebe Connect; Sparks and Ellis; Jardine Lloyd Thompson; Efficient Financial Holdings; Nasou via Africa; Altech Netchstar Group; Vodacom South Africa; Phindana Housing and MDV Developments. He was recently appointed to the board of the University of Johannesburg School of Tourism and Hospitality.
Jerry is also very passionate about youth development and is involved in various programmes enriching and inspiring young South Africans. To unwind you’ll find Jerry in nature, hiking or jogging, taking advantage of South Africa’s beautiful outdoors . When his work schedule allows, you’ll also find him cooking up a feast for his loved ones – his family, whom he describes as his foundation and pride.
Jerry has a degree in industrial psychology and economics from Rhodes University. He also holds a diploma in project management from Damelin and a certificate program in accounting and finance from Wits Business School.
