A new industry conference that will help shape the future of hospitality in Africa attracts big names to Johannesburg
The Hotel Show Africa 2017 brings one of the world’s leading expo brands to the continent for the first time and its three-day Vision Conference has attracted some of the biggest names in hospitality.
Delegates at the conference in Johannesburg will hear first-hand from top hotel chiefs focused on the future of African hospitality.
Guest speakers include Andrew McLachlan, Carlson Rezidor Group’s SVP of business development for Africa & Indian Ocean (pictured below, centre). In the last two years, his company has opened a new hotel in Africa every 60 days and signed a new hotel deal every 37 days. Today one of its brands, Radisson Blu, has the largest pipeline of hotel rooms in Africa.
Alexis Janoray, who is vice president development at Accor, will join panelists talking about ways to differentiate your hotel brand to attract new guests. He’s joined by Geri Wessels (pictured above left), the director of development with Hilton and Guy Stehlik, chief executive officer & founder of Bon Hotels.
The Vision Conference 2017 programme is one of the finest ever offered in South Africa, dealing with the key issues that will shape the hospitality sector for the coming decade.
‘How to succeed in Africa’s emerging tourist destinations’ brings a team of top panelists together, including Michele de Witt, director, HorwathHTL, (below left) who reveal why they chose new locations, their success and the problems launching in these previously undiscovered destinations.
Blake Anderson, complex executive chef, Monte Casino, Tsogo Sun, is part of panel session titled ‘Getting personal, staying social – why data interpretation is the ultimate intelligence’.
Delegates will discover why understanding your guests’ data can transform your business – appeal to their needs and your profitability will improve.
Under the title ‘What’s cooking? The Chefs’ Debate’, this is a food lovers’ highlight as top chefs reveal their kitchen secrets and explain how they meet the demands of increasingly discerning diners at some of the country’s top restaurants. Why quick service still means great food. Why South Africa is one of the world’s top food destinations. Cut your waste – boost your profit. And what diners really want.
For any successful hotel, staff are the key and training and keeping the best is a vital part of the business. Ashnie Muthusamy, talent manager at Sun International, has agreed to be part of a session ‘How to successfully transfer your brand DNA to your staff’.
For the first time all sessions attract Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits offering delegates the chance to learn and boost their career prospects. CPD is widely supported by dmg events at conferences worldwide and its introduction in Africa ensures high standards and value for attendees.
